OK, it's time for some project history... while we were on a 3 week trip last October we encountered walk-in showers at several motels and decided that we wanted to remodel our shower/tub to be a walk-in (we would still have the shower/tub in the guest bathroom). But, with the 4 week trip to bikeweek in March coming up we decided to wait until April to do the remodel. Well, after bike week there was a month of recouperaion (and posting over 12,000 trip photos to the website), the project was not considered again until June at which time we began thinking about what all the project would entail... we already knew we wanted to redo the bedroom/office floors with "wood" tile... and the bathroom... well just how did we want that to come out? We began perusing ideas and eventually came up with wanting chrome accessories, old style shower knobs, an overhead and a handheld shower head, and glass blocks on top of the pony wall. Time keeps on passing. We interviewed several contractors at a Home & Garden Show and chose three to meet with us at the house to get a cost estimate... YIKES... cost will be more than anticipated for the bathroom part of the project. Well, "wood" floor tile was already ordered, but, bathroom stuff was still being decided on and ordered. We chose a contractor, but, did ot want to start the project until ALL materials were received. FINALLY, by the ed of September (WHERE DID ALL THAT TIME GO???), everything was ready and we got a start date of October 4th from the contractor for the bathroom. By the 14th the prep-work was completed and the shower area was ready for the tile setter to begin, so, on Monday the 17th, the tile setter arrived to begin his prep-work and the contractor went to Capital Flooring and Design's warehuse to pick up the tile... oops... the six double bull nose tiles were singles... Capital Flooring and Design had said everthing was received, however, shame on me for not personally visually verifing all tile ordered was received! Capital Flooring and Design said "dont worry, the missing pieces are reordered "HOT" (hmmmmmm... what does "HOT" realllly mean?). Soooooooo... here we are on October 25th, four days from project completion, and where's the missing tile... "it should be here in early November." Meanwhile, the bedroom/office flooring will be completed on the 31st and the shower will still be on hold.

I would not have started the project for another month and a half ***IF*** I had personally verified all material was received before pulling the triger on the start date!!!

LESSON LEARNED: do not start a project based on what you are told by Capital Flooring and Design, or any other business or contractor, without personally putting your eyes on project materials; see it for yourself!!!

... and so here we are... tile work on hold...
