The Raz Report:

June 29: The 9th annual "Bikes on the Bay" Vintage Motorcycle and Scooter Show (and swap meet) was hosted again by the Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce and was held (again) at the Capitola Mall on 41st Street in Capitola.

This family event has hundreds of pre-1990 vintage American, British, European and Japanese motorcycles and scooters and the opportunity to find the part you've been looking for at the swap meet or purchase your dream motorcycle in the "Bike Corral" where used motorcycles and scooters were for sale. There was a "Bikes Only" parking area next to the display area, entertainment, food, awards, vendors showcasing the latest in bike accessories, clothing, parts and services, demos including Scotts Valley Police Precision Riding Team and Kuberg Electric Motorcycles, and, the admission was FREE!

The variety of motorcycles at this show is incredible and we can only show you a few selected photos with this article, but, what makes of motorcycles were there you ask? Well, to name a few: Harley-Davidson (K-Model, Aramachi, shovelhead), Triumph, BSA, Norton (750 Comando), Nimbus, Ducati (851), Indian, BMW, Cushman, Excelsior, Bultaco, Rokon (the two wheel drive climb a telephone pole motorcycle), Moto Guzi, KTM, Ossa, Ural, James, CZ (Ceska Zbrojovka), Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda (when is the last time you saw a Trail-90 around, or a little 160, or a "Honda Dream", or a CX500 - the orthoganal V-twin, or one of those nasty in-line 6-cylinder crotch rockets), Yamaha, and even a Morgan, and, within these makes were often many models, both old and newer. Yup, there was a little sump'n sump'n there for everyone's wish list!

"Bikes on the Bay" is a great show and swap meet to attend in the cool Monterey Bay air, and, if you missed it this year then bookmark Bikes on the Bay's website, www.bikesonthebay.com and mark June on your 2015 calendar for the 10th Annual "Bikes on the Bay" show and swapmeet.
