I bought my 1993 Geo Metro Sport new in November of 1992. I had planned on
buying a 1992 model at year end prices, but, when I saw the Majestic Magenta
color for 1993 I bit the bullet and paid $2k more for the 1993 model in
Majestic Magenta. I love this little car with it's 3 cylinder 40mpg engine.
In November of 2015 it went in to West Sacramento Smog for its test... and failed,
but, they are only a test station, so called the Car Czar and was told they
could not work on it since it had already been tested and failed, however they
recommended the Car Care Center at 2634 Juniper Lane in Sacramento where it
was readied for the re-test (very economically I might add), which it passed
when re-tested at West Sacramento Smog.

And now, in December of 2016, I decided to do some long needed restorative work starting with
Car Care Center, the shop recommended by the Car Czar, where the ignition
switch (in which the ignition key was broken off) was repaired and the driver's side outside
door handle which did not work was repaired. It is worth noting that Car Care Center is
well a established shop that has reasonable prices and does QUALITY work!

Then the car went across the street to Capital Auto Glass at 2021 Fulton Ave
in Sacramento, a shop recommended by the Car Care Center, where the windshield
and the rubber surround were replaced in the same afternoon despite the fact
that both were "hard-to-find" items

Next the car went to Acme Tops & Tunes at 6430 Franklin Blvd in Sacramento for
all new seat covers that look original, matching door panel covers and a custom
dash cover, and, a badly needed new top including all the weather striping for
the top, all hard-to-find specialty items, and new top latches.

How disappointing it was when I started looking for a paint shop. I
visited many paint shops, for example, a shop that would paint it for $200 and the body work would be what ever
they could do with 2 pieces of sandpaper, and on the other end of the spectrum
I visited a shop that wanted $6000 to disassemble the car, prepare and paint and put it back together.
Time passed... tic tic tic... then a friend recommended Lindstrom's Auto Body at 1217 E Beamer Street in Woodland, said they did really good
work. So, I went to Lindstrom's Auto Body. After the car was
looked over and some parking lot door dings and a few small dents in the front
right fender and the plastic bumpers in a bad weathered state and a hood to be supplied by us to replace the original
which was rumpled because Rusl did not latch it before getting on the freeway
to follow Todd home after taking the Geo to jump-start Todd's bike (which event
also caused massive cracks in the windshield which was finally replaced) were noted,
I was told that the total paint job would not be all that much because,
after all this was only half a car in size and on top of that it was a
convertible, and, in my opinion, the price was totally reasonable.
So we found a straight hood at Pick-n-Pull at 113 Beard Avenue in Modesto.
Pick-n-Pulls website and junk yard organization make it really easy to find
a part you need, but, you must be ready to "pull" it yourself.
